Book Week 2023

Dive into the wonderful world of reading because it's Book Week NI!

All pupils at The High School Ballynahinch will be reading on Thursday and Friday morning as usual.  They will be completing book reviews and sharing their opinions on what they have read. Do you know what Book Week NI is?

Book Week NI celebrates the joy and benefits of reading whilst also highlighting the important role that libraries play in community life and in the work of local schools, colleges and universities.

This year the initiative is even bigger and better because we've got some new partners on board! BBC Northern Ireland and Libraries NI have joined forces with the Education Authority (NI), Education Library Service and local universities to make the week extra special.

Reading for pleasure not only offers a multitude of benefits for mental health and overall well-being, but it also serves as a means of escape and relaxation from busy, daily lives. In fact, dedicating just a few precious minutes each day can provide the much-needed respite we all crave.

There are some best-selling author events taking place throughout the week and on Wednesday 14 October, we’ll be celebrating all the wonders that our local libraries have to offer with a Love Your Library Day. This is a perfect opportunity to connect with your local library. To get involved simply drop by to say hello, borrow or return books, and encourage the whole family to join in the fun.

We’ll also be bringing you some exciting discussions about #OurBigRead and #MyBigRead. So please do share what you're reading with others and join the lively conversation across social media - let's create a community of book lovers and inspire each other with our literary adventures!

So, what are you waiting for?  Grab a book, find a cosy spot, and let the magic of reading transport you to new worlds.
