It is generally accepted that our educational system must equip young people not only with the knowledge to pass examinations but with the skills necessary to cope with everyday life. In that context, one of the most important life skills is the ability to cope with road and traffic conditions as they exist in Northern Ireland today.
As most pupils will become vehicle owners the overall aim of the syllabus is to develop better informed and more responsible road users.
Motor Vehicle and Road User Studies is suitable for candidates of both sexes and of the ability range appropriate to the GCSE examinations.

- Foundation Tier grades range from C - G
Examination components consist of the following:
- Practical Driving - 20%
- Investigative Study - 20%
- Exam Paper at Higher or Foundation Tier - 60%
