Careers education and guidance is an important part of the personal development of each pupil. Our programme aims to develop the pupils’ self awareness, to increase knowledge and understanding of opportunities in education, training and employment and to develop skills enabling pupils’ to make informed decisions about their future career paths.
Key Stage 3
A planned programme is delivered as an employability module to all pupils in year 8, year 9 and year 10. The purpose is to help pupils acquire the skills, attitudes and knowledge they need to make successful choices including transition at year 10. This progressive programme incorporates personal career planning.
Key Stage 4
All pupils study Learning for Life and Work, either as a core subject or as an option for GCSE. The learning for work section incorporates work in the local and global economy, personal career planning, enterprise and entrepreneurship. It is delivered as a planned programme to empower pupils to make informed decisions for post 16 options.
Pupils engage in;
- Work experience for one week during year 12

- Business insight day
- Job sampling / taster days
- Careers talks and visits
